Dorothy Dunnett

DOROTHY Dunnett, of Edinburgh Road, Newmarket, died at Lakenheath Village Home on November 30 after her health slowly deteriorated throughout 2009. She was one month short of being 96.

Born in Shotley, near Ipswich, she had lived in Boxworth, Cambridgeshire, and since retirement in Newmarket.

After leaving school she was a housemaid, and during the war years worked in a nursery. Thereafter she was a farm manager's wife, and as well as looking after the family, took in lodgers.

She had an enduring faith, and loved the Methodist church. She sang in various choirs including at ChristChurch, Newmarket, played the piano, enjoyed singing, reading, knitting, listening to the radio and walking when able.

Mrs Dunnett leaves two daughters, Pauline and Jenny, and two grandchildren, Alice and Sam.

Her funeral was held at ChristChurch, Newmarket, and West Suffolk Crematorium, Risby, on December 11. The services were taken by the Rev Angeleena Keizer and the organist was Noel Goodman.
