NEWMARKET JOURNAL FEB 2011. MATT PICCAVER AND JOHN NOLAN doing a charity run/obstacle course in aid of Neo-Natal Unit at Addenbrooke's Hospital, WITH HAYLEY NOLAN AND BEN AGED 2 AND KERRY WITH KEDDY AGE 1.

TWO friends will run an obstacle-filled marathon in the dark to raise money for a neo-natal unit where their children were treated.

Matthew Piccaver, 33, from Isleham, and 31-year-old John Nolan, from Soham, will run the 10km Legends of Sherwood night race in Sherwood Pines, Nottinghamshire.

The pair hope to raise £500 for the neo-natal unit at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge.

Former Newmarket GP Dr Piccaver, who now works in Thetford, has a one-year-old son, Teddy, who was treated at the unit. Mr Nolan, who works for mobile phone retailer Phones 4 U, has a two-year-old son, Ben, and stepson Cameron, 12, who were also treated at the unit.

Dr Piccaver said: “I’m a GP and the only thing I wanted to do was make a difference to people. I’ve always tried to put something back into my community.”
