Cyril Sykes

CYRIL Sykes, of Freshfields, Newmarket, died at West Suffolk Hospital, Bury St Edmunds, on December 16. He was 77.

Born in Edlington, near Doncaster, one of 13, he had been educated and worked in the construction industry in that area until ill health forced him into early retirement while in his 50s and 12 years ago he moved to Newmarket to live with his brother Dennis.

He enjoyed gardening, outdoor life, walking his dog, and socialising with friends at the Forresters Club in Newmarket.

His funeral was held at the West Suffolk Crematorium, Risby, on December 28 and the Rev Graham Locking conducted the service.
