NEWMARKET JOURNAL JAN 2011. IVAN AND ROBERTA HOUGHTON PRESENT A CHEQUE TO BARBARA McGEE DEPUTY FUNDRAISER FOR EAAA, FROM MONEY RAISED FROM THEIR CHRISTMAS LIGHTS DISPLAY AT THEIR HOME IN WATERSIDE ISLEHAM.

A CHRISTMAS light display at the home of an Isleham couple has raised hundreds of pounds for the East Anglian Air Ambulance.

Ivan and Roberta Houghton have covered their Waterside home in Christmas lights every year since 2007 to raise money for the charity.

The lights were switched on daily from 4pm until 10pm and a collection box was placed outside for donations.

This year, the display raised £536.60 and included lights hanging from the roof, walls and gutter of their bungalow, as well as Christmas figures in the garden.

Barbara McGee, deputy area fundraiser for the East Anglian Air Ambulance, said: “Ivan and Roberta raise money for us every year and each year they seem to increase their display and raise more money.

“Even in this climate they continue to raise more money each year. It’s absolutely fantastic and we really appreciate what they do for us.

“If it wasn’t for people like them raising our profile, we wouldn’t be able to keep the service going.”
