Bow and arrow can kill

On Thursday evening, I was waiting at the give-way sign in Soham Road, Fordham, when I noticed a young boy, about 10 years old, shepherding a rabbit to safety using a broom, and I thought "What a nice thing to do".

However, once the rabbit had been moved into the undergrowth I was horrified to see the boy pick up a bow and arrow and take aim.

Unfortunately there was a build-up of traffic behind me, so I was unable to stop.

I couldn't see whether or not the rabbit was suffering from Myxomatosis, but there are humane ways of putting diseased animals out of their misery but using the poor creature for target practice is not one of them.

I don't know if the parents were aware of their son's actions, but they would have known he owned such a potentially lethal weapon and should have kept an eye on him, not only for the rabbit's sake, but for the safety of people driving along a busy road. Bows and arrows are not toys – they can kill.
