£5,000 charity offer is still on the table
Two weeks ago I publicly offered to pay £5,000 to a children's charity (mutually agreed) if Forest Heath District Council's chief executive David Burnip (whose salary is £119,706 p.a. including a £15,862 pension contribution), head of strategic development Nigel McCurdy (£96,231 p.a.) and the council's Conservative Leader Geoffrey Jaggard agreed to attend a professionally chaired meeting to explain why these two council employees are worth such inflated salari
(This is during] a time when Forest Heath (one of the smallest District Councils in England) is reported to be making its tea lady redundant.
No one from FHDC has had the courtesy to respond to my offer which I, therefore, repeat here and ask for an acceptance without delay.
Does Forest Heath's deafening silence mean no local children's charities need 5,000? Not even the local children's hospice?
I can name a number of local children's charities who would benefit from a 5,000 donation. Come on Messrs. Burnip, McCurdy and Jaggard. What are you afraid of?
The residents of Forest Heath employ you and have a right to your explanation of why, in this world of high unemployment and recession, you won't face the people whose council tax pays your very large salaries.
Incidentally, unlike Geoffrey Jaggard, during the time I was a Forest Heath councillor, I did object to these officer salaries.
